Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and understanding of emergency paediatric first aid as outlined by the Department of Education, September 2016.
This is a qualification that indicates an individual can undertake a specific role in the workplace and that may be relied upon by employers.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid
This QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) meets these new guidelines and this is the course you need to do if you want to be included in staff; child ratios at your place of work.
Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is an ideal first aid course to complement Paediatric First Aid members of staff, this course will give you those essential the skills to successfully manage an unconscious casualty, and how to give lifesaving CPR to a casualty who has stopped breathing.
You will also learn how to safely, confidently and competently use an AED, how to provide treatment to a casualty who is choking, suffering from an allergic reaction, having a convulsive seizure, or going into medical shock. You will also learn how to give treatment to a casualty who has a bleed, minor wounds, minor burns, and so much more on this first aid course.
Emergency Paediatric First Aid syllabus includes
Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency Paediatric First Aider in reference to:
- Preventing cross-infection
- Importance of recording incidents and actions
- Using available equipment
- Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Be able to provide first aid for an Infant or Child who:
- is unresponsive but breathing normally
- is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally
- is choking
- has external bleeding
- is suffering from medical shock
- is suffering from bites, stings, and minor injuries (splinters, cuts, grazes, or bruising)
6 guided learning hours
Practical and visual observations during your training day and a final 15 MCQ paper at the end of the day
Candidates who pass all practical elements of the course and the 15 MCQ paper will be an Ofqual approved QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
This is valid for 3 years from the date of assessment
You will receive an A4 Ofqual approved certificate and also a credit/debit size plastic certificate for your purse or wallet
It’s recommended that candidates have a minimum of level 1 literacy and numeracy or equivalent
This qualification is for those over 16 years of age
Candidates should be physically capable of providing first aid, such as CPR to a casualty on the floor
The qualification can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice
