The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.
The QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is ideal for those employers that need to meet the minimum requirements of first aid regulations; typically those working in shops, offices, and other LOW risk working environments.
This qualification has the purpose of supporting a role in the workplace.

Emergency First Aid at Work is ideal for LOW-risk workplaces such as administration offices and retail.
This regulated and accredited emergency first aid at work course will equip you with those essential lifesaving skills that will need if you have to safely manage an unconscious casualty and give lifesaving them CPR if they have stopped breathing.
You will learn how to use an AED safely with confidence and competence and how to safely put the casualty into the recovery position to protect the airway.
In addition to learning how to perform lifesaving CPR you will learn how to provide essential treatment for minor injuries and conditions such as burns, scalds, bites, cuts, grazes, bleeds, seizures, choking and quite a bit more during your training day.
Emergency First Aid at Work syllabus includes
Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider in reference to:
- Preventing cross-infection
- Importance of recording incidents and actions
- Using available equipment
- Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Be able to administer and provide first aid to a casualty who:
- is unresponsive but breathing normally
- is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally
- is choking
- has external bleeding
- is suffering from medical shock
- has splinter(s),
- has cuts, grazes, and bruising
- has minor burns or scalds
- is having a seizure
6 guided learning hours (1day).
Practical observations during your training day and a final multi-choice question paper at the end of your course.
Candidates who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final multi-choice paper will be awarded an Ofqual approved QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)
This is valid for 3 years from the date of the assessment of the course, you will receive an A4 size certificate and also a wallet/purse size plastic qualification card.
This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a workplace emergency first aider. Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole emergency first aider.
It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.
This qualification is available to candidates in England.
This Qualification can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
