First aid (annual refresher) will refresh those first aid skills, knowledge, and understanding, to enable them to continue carrying out their first aider role in the workplace.
If it has been more than 12 months since they attended your first aid course, then there is a very good chance they may have forgotten some of what they have learned. We call these skills fade and we all get it from time to time.
HSE (first aid) strongly recommends that all first aiders in the workplace undertake refresher training every 12 months to help prevent skills fade. Although at this time this is only a recommendation, not a legal requirement.
First aid (annual refresher) does come with a requirement syllabus which is set out below. We include other first-aid skills that our learners want to revisit too such as using a tourniquet, catastrophic wound management, etc.

Understand the role and responsibilities of a First Aider in reference to:
Be able to administer and provide first aid to a casualty who:
3.5 guided learning hours (1/2 day).
Practical assessments throughout the course.
Learners who pass the practical assessments of the course will be awarded a QNUK Level 3 Award in First Aid (Annual Refresher) (RQF)
This is valid for 1 year from the assessment date.
This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a workplace first aider.
Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be the sole first aider.
Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore being physically capable of doing so.
Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language in order to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods.
This qualification is available to candidates in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The Qualification can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
