Description: This qualification is aimed at those looking to undertake the role of an Emergency first aider in the workplace, as outlined in the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

This qualification has the purpose of supporting a role in the workplace.

Emergency First Aid at Work course is a popular first aid course that has been specifically designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to become an Emergency First Aider in the workplace.

This is ideal if you work in a LOW risk of injury workplaces such as administration office, small warehouse, or community worker etc.

Emergency First Aid at Work

Emergency First Aid at Work is a must-have first aid qualification if you want to become an Emergency first aider in the workplace. This course meets all current guidelines required by HSE for first aid in the workplace and also meets current UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.

This very popular Emergency First Aid at Work course will teach you essential lifesaving skills such as how to successfully manage an unconscious casualty who is breathing or is not breathing. How to administer lifesaving CPR and how to use an AED safely, confidently and competently in a first aid emergency.

This course will also give you those essential skills and knowledge to be able to assist and give treatment to a casualty if they start to choke, or show signs of shock, or having a seizure.

You will also learn how best to provide assistance and treatment to a casualty with minor bleed(s) wound(s), minor burns and scalds and so much more too in this comprehensive emergency first aid at work course.

Emergency First Aid at Work course syllabus includes

Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider in reference to:

  • Preventing cross infection
  • Importance of recording incidents and actions
  • Using available equipment
  • Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Be able to administer and provide first aid to a casualty who:

  • is unresponsive but breathing normally
  • is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally
  • is choking
  • has external bleeding
  • is suffering from medical shock
  • has splinters,
  • has cuts, grazes, and bruising
  • has minor burns or scalds
  • is having a seizure

Course Duration

6 guided learning hours (1day).

Course Tests

Practical and viual observations during your training day and a final 15 multi-choice question paper at the end of your course.

Course Qualification

Candidates who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final  multi-choice paper will be awarded an Ofqual approved QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)

This is valid for 3 years from the date of the course, you will receive an A4 size certificate and also a wallet/purse size plastic qualification card for your wallet or purse.

Course Pre-requisites

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a workplace emergency first aider.

Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole emergency first aider.

It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment.

This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.

Geographical Coverage

This qualification is available to candidates in England.

The Qualification can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
