Description: This qualification is the most popular first aid qualification that we do.

The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

The QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is ideal for those employers that need to meet the minimum requirements of first aid regulations; typically those working in shops, offices, and other LOW risk working environments.

Emergency First Aid at Work Course

Emergency First Aid at Work course is a very popular first aid course with most LOW risk of injury workplaces such as administration offices, small warehouses, community centres, motor vehicle garages etc.

In just 1 day (6 guided learning hours) learners will learn all the essential skills and knowledge required to become an emergency first aider in the workplace and can be counted upon by their employer to act as an emergency first aider in an emergency first aid situation.

Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is regulated by OFQUAL and accredited by QNUK 

This first aid course meets all current HSE and UK Resuscitation Council guidelines

Emergency First Aid at Work

Emergency first aid at work course will give learners the skills and knowledge to safely manage an unconscious casualty, give essential lifesaving CPR to a casualty who has stopped breathing and how to use an AED safely, confidently, and competently.

Learners will also learn how best to provide the best treatment to a casualty who is suffering from conditions such as a severe choke, hypovolaemic shock, and non-convuslsive and convulsive seizures.

Also learning how best to give the best treatment for a casualty who may have attained minor wounds, burns, and scalds too.

Emergency First Aid at Work course syllabus includes

Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider in reference to:

  • Preventing cross infection
  • Importance of recording incidents and actions
  • Using available equipment
  • Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Be able to administer and provide first aid to a casualty who:

  • is unresponsive but breathing normally
  • is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally
  • is choking
  • has external bleeding
  • is suffering from medical shock
  • has splinters,
  • has cuts, grazes, and bruising
  • has minor burns or scalds
  • is having a seizure

Course Duration

6 guided learning hours (1day).

Course Tests

Practical and visual observations are done during the learners training day and a final 15 multi-choice question paper at the end of the course.

Course Qualification

Candidates who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final  multi-choice paper will be awarded an Ofqual approved QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)

This is valid for 3 years from the date of the course, you will receive an A4 size certificate, PDF copy of your certificate, and also a wallet/purse size plastic qualification card.

Course Pre-requisites

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a workplace emergency first aider.

Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole emergency first aider.

It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment.

This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.

Course Progression

For learners who are looking at progressing further in first aid then QNUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) would be a good step. This course is also available as an open course option at our training centre in Rugby Warwickshire.

Geographical Coverage

This qualification is available to candidates in England.

The Qualification can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
