Description: This qualification is aimed at those looking to undertake the role of the first aider in sports activities. The qualification also meets the requirements for a workplace emergency first aider as outlined in the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

This qualification has the purpose of supporting a role in the workplace.

Activity First Aid Course

Activity first aid course has been specifically designed for the role of the first aider in sports activities such as sports and athletic coaches, this is also popular with leisure centres too.

Our activity first aid course meets the requirements for a workplace emergency first aider as outlined in the Health & Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981 and Health & Safety (first aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Activity first aid course also includes recognition and management of illness and injuries in activities so giving a really good first aid qualification that is OFQUAL regulated.

We are confident that learners will find this first aid qualification very useful as it covers specific illnesses and injuries within activities in the sports and athletic fields.

We understand that having colleagues away from work can be difficult for more than a day, so we have introduced a flexible booking to help you with this.

You can book separate dates for this course to fit in with your business operations, i.e. day 1 one week and day 2 another week.

Activity First Aid Course Day 1

Day 1 of Activity first aid course covers the Emergency First Aid at Work skills syllabus. Learning how to successfully manage an unconscious casualty and how to give effective lifesaving CPR and how to use an AED safely and confidently.

Also learning how to provide effective treatment for minor injuries and wounds such as bleeds, choking, shock, or seizures etc.

Activity First Aid Course Day 2

Day 2 of Activity first aid course covers effective treatment of minor sports injuries, dislocations, and broken bones. Also learning to provide effective treatment for a casualty who may be suffering from Asthma, Anaphylactic shock, Diabetes, Heart attack, Stroke, insect bites, or suffering from being Hot & Cold etc.

Activity first aid is an Ofqual regulated course that is accredited by Qualifications Network

This course meets all current HSE and UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Activity First Aid Course Syllabus Includes

Understand the role and responsibilities of the First Aider in reference to:

  • Preventing cross-infection
  • Importance of recording incidents and actions
  • Using available equipment
  • Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Be able to carry out primary and secondary surveys and provide and administer first aid to a Child or Adult who:

  • is unresponsive but breathing normally
  • is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally (whether drowning or not)
  • is choking
  • has external bleeding
  • is suffering from medical shock
  • has injuries to eyes, bones, muscles, chest, and joints
  • is suffering from bites, stings, and minor injuries (splinters, cuts, grazes, or bruising)
  • has suspected fracture
  • has a head, neck, or back injuries
  • has minor burns or scalds
  • is having a seizure
  • is suffering from anaphylactic shock
  • has diabetes
  • has asthma
  • has allergic reactions
  • Suffering from extremes of hot or cold

Course Tests

Practical observations during the 2 training days and a final 40 multi-choice question paper at the end of the course.

Course Qualification

Delegates who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final multi-choice paper will be awarded an Ofqual approved  QNUK Level 3 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF)

This qualification is valid for 3 years from the date of the course, they will receive an A4 size certificate and also a wallet/purse size plastic qualification card.

Course Pre-requisites

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a nominated first aider.

Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole, nominated first aider.

It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Geographical Coverage

This qualification is available to candidates in England.

The Qualification can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice.
